PET DAY FUN

October 31st, 2010 by room8

P1030963P1030975P1030966P1040022We had a beautifully fine day for our flower show and pet day on Friday 22 October. Everyone had a busy morning creating symmetrical vaseline saucer designs, crazy vege/fruit creatures, amazing sand garden and creative pets using play dough. Lots of people won certificates and everyone was proud of their achievements.
In the afternoon the pets arrived. Children talked to the judges about how they care for their animals. It all finished with a grand parade. Just as well the dogs all behaved themselves! We even had two beautiful horses.

Rooms 6, 7 and 8 clever kids put on a folk dancing display for the parents and grandparents on Wednesday. It was good that we had learnt all the dances so well. Some were circle dances and others needed us to dance with partners. The last dances, Jiffy Mixer and Bunny Hop were line dances. The parents were very good at joining in and having fun too. It was a good chance to learn lots of dances from different countries. We danced the Hokey Tokey, so we all know our left and right now.

Armed Offender’s Squad Visits.

September 23rd, 2010 by room8

The ARMED OFFENDER’S SQUAD surprised us by visiting our school. This was part of our study about POLICE and how they help us. We were glad to have them come and explain how they how to protect the police and our community. They have to be very strong and fit, as they have about 35 kg of equipment to carry. What a lot of important gear. Some people were about to wear the heavy bullet proof vest. There were even real guns, but the police made sure we were all safe. Just as well they didn’t let off any tear gas.P1030816P1030818P1030820P1030831P1030833P1030841P1030848P1030851P1030853P1030858P1030861

Dinosaurs Come to School

September 23rd, 2010 by room8

During the term we have learnt lots about DINOSAURS. Some were carnivores and others herbivores. In art,P1030786P1030788 we sketched them and then made 3D clay tiles of dinosaurs. We mounted them on woven mats. Later we added backgrounds of sticks, trees and rocks. They look really neat hanging in our room.
