Yatton Park and Autumn Leaves.

Fun in the park. Exploring around the giant trees. Playing in the waterfall stream. Having lunch together.

Yatton Park is a great place to visit with all your Room 6, 7 and 8 friends. We had a yummy lunch and the sun stayed out. It was a lovely place to visit after the trip to the Fire Sation at Greeton.

Visiting the Fire Station.

At Greerton Fire Station we were able to meet the fire safety officers and see how the fire engines work. It was great to squirt water from the powerful fat hose. We had to hold on tight and work together so the hose didn’t fly around everywhere. I wonder who wants to be a fire fighter?

Get Down. Get Low. Get Out. Stop, Drop and Roll

We are now a Firewise Class. The smokehouse came to our school so we were able to crawl through the smoke house. We learnt about when and how to call 1 1 1 and ask for the fire service. Everyone knows how to give their name and address. The children have been checking the smoke alarms and are able to do the right thing if the smoke alarm goes off.

The BIG Band

The whole school had a special treat when the Girls College BIG Band came and performed for us. They were AMAZING. We cheered and clapped along.

Mother’s Day.

P1040581We all made gifts for our Mums and bear cards. The poems we wrote were very special and they went inside the cards. They were displayed in a wall hanging floral gift box. A special gift for all our Mum’s.

On with the Puppet Show

Room 8 children put on a neat puppet show for the parents, grandparents and preschool children. The puppets sang, danced twisted and turned. At the end, we had the story ‘I’m the King of the Mountain’, where the flea climbed into the cows ear. Everyone smiled, clapped and laughed. The children all want to take home their puppets and do their own puppet shows at home.

Hairy Maclary at the Art Gallery

On Friday we travelled on the ‘Art Bus’ into the art gallery to see the Hairy Maclary Lynley Dodd exhibition. It was a neat experience for all the children. They even got to draw their own dog and use some art techiques.

Look. More Fun Stick Puppets

What a busy class. We’ve had a terrific time making puppets. It was a good chance to be creative and use bits and pieces. We used the hot glue guns and added sticks to the puppets to make them move. The puppets are going to be for the puppet show that we perform for the parents. We’ve got songs like “Grumpy” and “Let’s See” and “Energy”. These songs really do get our puppets moving, dancing and singing.

Making Sock Puppets

What great fun. Everyone made a special sock and was able to create a puppet that ‘came alive’. The puppets looked really cute with different types of eyes, teeth and coloured hair. Dan the puppet man had clever tricks for helping us make the arms and noses. We were all proud of the results and can’t wait to do the puppet shows for the parents.
