Making Juice

November 6th, 2010 by room6

Thank you very much to Danni Wardley who came in and made orange juice with our class. In groups we worked with Danni cutting and squeezing oranges, lemons and limes. We tasted it and it was very sour! So we added some sugar, soda water, mint and zest to make it taste sweeter. We then each poured ourselves a glass and sat back to enjoy it. It tasted delicious! Have a look at some of the pictures…

The Police and Armed Offender Squad

September 22nd, 2010 by room6

We have had a great time learning about the police and what their job includes. We were very lucky to have Police Educator Dorris come in to teach us all about her job. She told us that the Police are there to keep us safe. She taught us that we are only allowed to dial 111 in an emergency.

The Armed Offender Squad came in to see us too. We got a fright as they ran into the multimedia room, but we loved learning all about their special job. They had lots of equipment that weighed 30kg! It was very interesting to hear about the way that they would enter a house. We liked learning about the 6-banger, their special goggles, tear gas, smoke bombs, and of course all of their guns! At the end we were even allowed to hold some of the officers guns. If you want to know more about the AOS just ask somebody from room 6!

We think that the Armed Offender Squad do an amazing job and we are lucky to have them. Some of us would like to be Policemen when we grow up.

Food For Energy

September 22nd, 2010 by room6

We have been learning about all of the foods that give us energy. We have learnt that there are some foods like fruit and vegetables that we need to eat lots of. We know that we need some dairy and meat. We are only allowed a small amount of treats and sweets!

We need to eat healthy food and drink lots of water so that our heart can pump the energy around our body in the blood giving us lots of EnErGy!!

Dinosaurs

August 31st, 2010 by room6

We all loved learning about dinosaurs! We have learnt about herbivores and carnivors. We know some land, sea and flying dinosaurs too. We learnt the most about the Diplodocus, the Pterandodon, the Stegosaurus, and the Triceratops. Our favourite dinosaur was the T-Rex. Some dinosaurs were big and others were very small. We liked looking at all of the different pictures and drawing some of our own. We made some really awesome dinosaur dioramas..you should come in and see them!

Our Lovely Self Portraits

August 31st, 2010 by room6

We all worked hard looking at ourselves and others to work out exactly what we looked like. We noticed that our eyes were half way down our head and not at the top. We enjoyed drawing and painting ourselves.. Have a look…

June 16th, 2010 by room6

We had our junior cross country last Thursday which was a fun filled afternoon.

The children all ran their best and had a great amount of support from parents and older siblings. Well done to Emily, Georgia, Maureece, Toby, Jack and Austin from our class who all placed in the top three of their races.

Our Letterboxes

June 5th, 2010 by room6

We planned and designed our very own letterboxes. With some lovely parents helping us we made our bedroom letterboxes at school. Some of us were able to stick to our original plans and others had to adapt their plans as they went. We were all successful in making a practical and functional letterbox with a hole to post letters and a way to remove the letters we received. Look at our awesome letterboxes that ranged from sharks, to butterflies, to aeroplanes and cats…there was a lot of fun and creativity taking place…
