Our House Leaders organised a neat day where we dressed up to freak our peers and teachers.
We were able to freak Mrs Webster into allowing us not to do cross country training.

On Saturday 12 March our Year5/6 Syndicate held a car wash to raise money for people in Christchurch. Room 4 organised who did the washing, soaping and washing the soap off. We offered coffee and muffin for a few extra dollars. It was lots of fun and the $834 we raised will help some people in a little way.
After we all had a great holiday the new term and year has started. We have 30 students in our class which makes for an exciting year.We are well into learning especially about To Matou Wahi-Our Place. We have read and investigated about ourselves, our school and our environment. The next stage of learning is about the Bay of Plenty and how we all live together, something we will also learn on camp in Rotorua.
We were once again lucky with the weather and Pet Day was held when planned.
In the morning we worked hard at creating our different activities. These were sand gardens, bread creations, aqua jars, vegetable or fruit creations, vaseline saucers and plasticine creatures. There were some great entries, have a look at the slide show to see them.
In the afternoon all the pets arrived to be judged. These ranged from a lizard to chickens to calves and lambs.
We do enjoy the day and already look forward to next year.
On Wednesday we were very lucky to host 24 students, their Principal and a teacher for the day. They had come from Hong Kong and were keen to learn about New Zealand schools , work in the environment and share knowledge about their country.
Our syndicate showed them how to do Jump Jam,then in our rooms they showed us different aspects of their culture. After morning tea we went to Jess Road Estuary and completed some planting.
Once we had sung two songs, had the Year 7/8 boys do the haka, we gave the visitors a postcard picture of our school.
It was a fun learning day and hopefully it will happen again.
This term we learnt about blind and partially sighted people. It must be really difficult for blind people to achieve things but they do. With support to help them learn they travel, play sport, live on their own and have careers.
We realise to help them we over help rather than thinking they need it, we know how to lead them without hurting them.
We created pictures using materials that a blind person would be able to feel and know what the picture is about.
What fun we had when we were allowed to wear our pj’s to school. As it was cold we were warm with our dessing gowns, slippers and pjs. There was so many different types and colours which made it fun to see. Prizes were given for the most unusual, most colourful and best all round.
