Swimming Sports

Congratulations goes to Samantha for her great success in the WBOP Swimming finals. To reach that day she and the rest of the class attended Small Schools Day at Katikati and be 1st,2nd or 3rd in a race. The next meet was North Cluster also at Katikati where Stella and Samantha had great success and went on to WBOP final.

From the photos you can see the art we have achieved. For one art activity we selected us doing an activity at camp and then had to draw and colour ourselves in. We were also allowed to choose a photo and then create our own picture frame.
Each reading group has spent time reading recipes and cooking for the rest of the class. Here you can see Hot Cross Muffins were made and enjoyed.

Our Term Happenings

We certainly have been very busy this term inside the classroom and outside.
Our camp at Lake Whakamaru was really great, even though it rained for most of the time. We all learnt how to try all activities we faced whether it was scaling the rock wall or rowing with Mrs Webster across the lake. The parents with us were busy each day helping with the activities.

Today we began our year in Room 3. It is great to have 29 students who all had a great holiday. We look forward to some fun activities this term which start with an education day at Mt Maunganui Surf Life Saving Club on 13 February. On 22-24 February we go on camp to Lake Whakamaru near Taupo. We also will see a Maths Roadshow at school and have our different swimming sports. We are not sure how we will train as our pool is gone, to make for the new pool which is being built.way

Sevens Tournament

Last week we had our Sevens Tournament at Katikati College. We had team entered in Netball, Rugby, Basketball and Soccer. It was a fun day and each team had some wins and losses. Congratulations to Ye ar 5 basketball who go forward to the next round.

Bay Maths

Thursday night The Bay Maths competition was held at Otumoetai Intermediate School. There were 32 teams from 22 schools and we entered two teams, 6a was Ewan, Grace and Ben while 6B had Caitlyn, Joost and Nathan. It was thrilling for them to come 9th and 11th, well done everyone. The best news was Ewan won the Individual Award, a top effort and carrying on from last years success.

We Welcome Miss Luithardt

This week we welcomed Miss Luithardt to our class for the next twelve weeks. She is from Stuttgard in Germany and is here to learn about our New Zealand schools. She is hoping to teach us some German,be involved in sports and teach us German songs and lots more. This week she helped us with fitness and wore black on our All Black day./>

Term 3 Happenings

The new term has already been very busy. We have had a visit from ‘Educate Me’ where we learnt about Rainforests and what is happening to them. Along with Mr Joe’s lesson we discovered how important rainforests are to our planet.
The choir performed at Bay Court with many other schools. Well done to you all.
While the choir was busy the rest of us did some Technology. We built a tower using spaghetti and marshmallows . Look at the results

Russian Cooking on PhotoPeach

To end our Russian study we all helped prepare food which the Russian people often eat. Yulia Wagner who is Russian, shared with us what it was like to grow up in Russian and then helped us cook pan cakes, ravioli, salad and zebra cake. It was lovely tasting all the food. Thanks to the parents who helped us.

What a night we had.

It was amazing to see what a whole school could do together. Each class performed a great item about a country which is involved in the Rugby World Cup. We learnt about Russia,finding out about their geography, history, schools, language, culture and cooking. For our item the boys performed a Cossock Dance and the girls the Trokia. Katie performed a solo ballet of Russian ballet.
