      Cross Country Results

It was great to see the class all running at the first cross country up at Whakamarama. From that some children went next to North Cluster, this time the race was on a warmer day.

Russell, Tabitha  and Mckenzee went on to race at the Western Bay of Plenty races  where Russell came 6th,Tabitha 7 and Mackenzee 8. Congratulations to you all. Russell and Tabitha went to Bay of Plenty with Russell coming 6th, well done.

      Supermarket Visit

      Super11

Recently we had a visit from Naomi who works for Foodstuffs. She visited each class in our syndicate  and talked to us about the food groups and ways of helping us to stay healthy by eating properly.

The next day we went to Brookfield New World where we spent time examining labels of different foods to see what they had in each category per 100g. It was a neat way to learn and hopefully we didn’t annoy the shoppers. Back in the classroom we looked at our findings and came up with a list of foods we should eat.

We will now help our parents buy the correct food!Super3

      Maths with a difference.

P1010017P1010016 To begin the term we were working with statistics which was lots of fun. We learnt how to investigate information, apply questions to information and to use excel for graphing and heaps of other things.

Here we are working on the lap tops with the data projector showing us what to do.

      Freaky Friday

      P1010018

Our House Leaders organised a neat day where we dressed up to freak our peers and teachers.

We were able to freak Mrs Webster into allowing us not to do cross country training.

      Netball Skills

P1010009The first Saturday after the holidays the 2011 Netball season started. It was great to see 5 teams from our school playing and especially with Year 6 team having a win.

Good luck girls for the season.

We offered coffee and muffin for a few extra dollars. It was lots of fun  and the $834 we raised will help some people in a little way.

After we all had a great holiday the new term and year has started. We have 30 students in our class which makes for an exciting year.We are well into learning especially about To Matou Wahi-Our Place. We have read and investigated about ourselves, our  school and our environment. The next stage of learning is about the Bay of Plenty and how we all live together, something we will also learn on camp in Rotorua.

      A Beautiful Pet Day

We were once again lucky with the weather and Pet Day was held when planned.
In the morning we worked hard at creating our different activities. These were sand gardens, bread creations, aqua jars, vegetable or fruit creations, vaseline saucers and plasticine creatures. There were some great entries, have a look at the slide show to see them.
In the afternoon all the pets arrived to be judged. These ranged from a lizard to chickens to calves and lambs.
We do enjoy the day and already look forward to next year.
