We have been learning about Matariki. We imagined a silhouette scene on a Matariki morning. We hope you enjoy our work!
We visited the marae to learn about the customs and kawa or marae protocol. We learned about how people are welcomed to the marae and how important the wharenui or meeting house is. We also learned what the parts and patterns of the wharenui mean. We sang some waita, learned a haka and wove some putiputi harakeke or flax flowers.
We have been learning a lot about insects. In art we painted and collaged an imaginary insect. have a look and see what you think!
We had a lovely time at the quarry looking at all the amazing art work and plantings. We also learned about how butterflies are tagged. Thanks to Mary, Jo and Atholl who gave up their time to show us around. Thanks also to all the parents who came with us.
We had an amazing time at camp. The class all worked and played really well together. We learned a lot about beesĀ , eels and the early settlers to our district. Thanks again to all of the marvellous parents who took care of us.
We are all excited to be back at school after our long , hot , summer break. There have been lots of changes while we were on holiday. Hardly any teachers are where they were last year. We think they are trying to confuse us!
